Friendship Theorem (April 23rd, 2026)
In this meeting we discussed the friendship theorem!
The friendship theorem is defined as follows: If a group of people has the property that every pair of people has exactly one friend in common, then there must be one person who is a friend to all the others.
We hosted the meeting by asking the group the following:
Question 1. If I was friends with two people how would you model this?
Question 2. Now, if I was friends with 4 other people, how would you model this?
Question 3. How could we generalize this?
Repeat questions 1 and 2 until people understand the theorem.
If there are any students interested in learning more about the friendship theorem, they should consider the following resources.
